Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist will play a critical role in managing payroll operations within a timely and accurate manner, adhering to fiscal regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce payroll for all unionized and non-unionized employees in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with the coordination team to ensure quality of information generated.
- Reconcile payroll records and resolve discrepancies with the Finance department.
- Balance and prepare payments for various suppliers.
- Produce various monthly reports.
- Respond to requests from internal and external clients.
- Participate in year-end activities for Canadian and US payroll.
- Participate in the integration, testing, and implementation of payroll system enhancements, interfaces, and tax updates.
Requirements
- College diploma in administration or accounting.
- Minimum of three years' experience in a similar position.
- Experience with payroll for employees living in another province.
- Experience with self-processing a volume of 400 employees or more.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office Software, particularly with Excel.
- Experience with unionized payroll an asset.
- Experience with T4/R1 summary production an asset.
- Experience with DAS remittances an asset.
- Experience with third-party remittances such as CNESST, WSIB, or EHT an asset.
- Member of the Canadian Payroll Association or the American Payroll Association is an asset.
- Experience with a major payroll software application as well as knowledge of the SAP system will be considered a strong asset.
- Experience with American payroll is an asset.
- Good knowledge of payroll rules.
