Reporting to the Vice-President, Academic, the Dean will provide strategic direction and leadership for the Faculty, ensuring its continued excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Faculty of Health Sciences, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and student success.
  • Oversee all aspects of academic programming, including curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation processes.
  • Champion a student-centered approach to learning, ensuring that students have access to high-quality teaching, resources, and support services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance research activities within the Faculty, fostering a culture of inquiry and scholarship.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with industry partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with current and emerging workforce needs.
  • Manage the Faculty's budget effectively and responsibly, allocating resources to support academic priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of faculty, staff, and administrators, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Master of Nursing degree; a PhD will be preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years of leadership experience in an academic setting is required.
  • A minimum of five years of research and industry experience in the field of clinical, health, or life sciences.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Allied Health and Sciences, along with at least five years of teaching and curriculum development experience in a post-secondary environment.
  • Proven leadership or relevant experience in overseeing the operation of healthcare facilities.
  • A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all matters related to students, staffing, and programming.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, decision-making skills, excellent time-management and organization skills, and a proven ability to set goals and achieve objectives.
  • The ability to cope with a demanding workload, remain calm and focused under pressure, and effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to advocate for staff, students, programs, and the College as a whole.
  • Research and analytical skills to create new knowledge, develop new products/processes, incorporate enhancing technologies or services, and find solutions to complex problems.
