Job Title: Patient Transportation Coordinator

Interior Health is seeking a skilled Patient Transportation Coordinator to join our team in Kelowna, BC.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual to coordinate patient transfers between health authority facilities. The successful candidate will work in a call-centre environment to arrange patient transfers, communicate with clinical staff and transportation providers, and ensure the efficient flow of patients through the healthcare continuum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate patient transfers between health authority facilities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of transportation resources.
  • Communicate with clinical staff, transportation providers, and bed coordinating agencies to facilitate patient flow and optimize resource utilization.
  • Provide transportation resources that match the care requirements of patients, while minimizing costs and reducing avoidable length of stay in hospital.
  • Collaborate with facility staff, transport providers, and bed coordinating agencies to identify opportunities for program improvement and implement changes to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities, including auditing patient transfer activities, identifying opportunities for improvement, and reporting incidents and complaints.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field, such as healthcare operations, logistics, or transportation coordination.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and patient care.
