Position Overview

As a vital member of the Maintenance team, the Plant Maintenance Technician serves as the primary contact for all maintenance-related tasks during their shift. This role involves executing work orders predominantly on the manufacturing floor. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, performing repairs, and executing preventative maintenance on various equipment such as stirred tanks, gearboxes, mechanical seals, pumps, filters, mills, ovens, rotary dryers, and utility systems like vacuum pumps, cooling towers, chillers, and boilers. The technician is expected to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical issues across the facility, with guidance from senior maintenance personnel. This position is a progression role, typically advancing to Technician III based on performance.

Shift Details

Regular hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs as assigned through work orders, while providing consistent progress updates to the supervisor.
  • Address mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic challenges on various production and facility equipment.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on plant equipment and ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
  • Maintain compliance with standard operating procedures and departmental policies, ensuring good documentation practices.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical failures and seek assistance for more complex issues.
  • Timely completion of deviation reports.
  • Occasionally oversee contractors, ensuring adherence to site safety policies and compliance.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, with the requirement to reside within a 30-minute commute to the facility for maintenance emergencies.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member to achieve all operational goals while maintaining a safe working environment.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant programs, including the Global Business Ethics and Compliance Program, Global Quality policies, Safety and Environment policies, and HR policies.
  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma required; completion of relevant college or trade school courses is an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Competency in basic mechanical repairs, strong attention to detail, basic computer skills for work order management, and the ability to diagnose equipment-related issues.
  • Experience: 1-3 years in a maintenance or mechanical role; experience in the pharmaceutical or food processing industry is preferred.
