Specialist in Security and Compliance for the Road Transport Industry

TOTEM recruteur de talent is seeking a dedicated specialist in security and compliance to enhance our operations within the road transport industry. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks pertaining to road safety in Quebec, particularly in relation to Law 90. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities centered around safety, compliance, and incident management. Below is a detailed outline of the key responsibilities associated with this position:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the effective management and resolution of accidents, adhering to established protocols.
  • Serve as the primary contact during accidents or incidents, coordinating emergency responses as required.
  • Facilitate the activities of the accident review committee and lead meetings.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of all accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Monitor adherence to current regulations and evaluate performance reports to identify trends among high-risk drivers.
  • Design and implement strategies for improvement in areas such as driver infractions, equipment compliance, CVOR, USDOT, and accident statistics.
  • Ensure daily driver audits are accurate and compliant.
  • Lead the local health and safety committee, fostering a safe and compliant workplace environment.
  • Guarantee that all regional employee training is current, covering essential topics such as WHMIS, transportation of hazardous materials, hours of service, pre-trip inspections, and workplace safety.
  • Create training and communication initiatives on safety, security, environmental, and compliance matters for a diverse workforce.

Representation and Development:

  • Actively engage in webinars, seminars, and conferences focused on safety and compliance within the road transport sector.
  • Contribute to the representation and dissemination of best practices and insights gained within the industry.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of Canadian and American road regulations, including CVOR and USDOT.
  • Experience in handling dangerous goods is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of load securing techniques and configurations for light utility vehicles.
  • Proficient in standard commercial software applications such as Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Prior experience in safety management, driver training, or as an owner-operator is beneficial.
