Accounts Payable Specialist

**Job Summary**
The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing incoming invoices and ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient payment management. This role will work closely with the Senior Financial Controller to ensure seamless operations and compliance with financial policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and verify invoices received from suppliers;
- Match invoices with purchase orders and receipts to ensure accuracy;
- Investigate discrepancies with the purchasing department to resolve issues;
- Ensure proper documentation of supporting documents to maintain compliance;
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and accuracy;
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in the accounts payable function to ensure optimal performance;
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and timely payments to suppliers;
- Comply with health and safety policies and regulations at all times;
- Perform other duties related to the position as required to support the success of the project.
Required Qualifications:
- College diploma or professional studies in accounting;
- At least two years of relevant experience in accounts payable;
- Bilingual (French and English) to interact with the Toronto team and English-speaking suppliers.
Technical Competencies:
- Knowledge of Procure-to-Pay process control principles;
- Experience with integrated ERP software, preferably SAP S/4;
- Experience with MS Dynamics GP and Guide-TI is an asset.
Basic Competencies:
- Demonstrate autonomy and independence in work;
- Attention to detail and accuracy in processing invoices;
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively;
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems efficiently;
- Ability to organize and prioritize requests from suppliers and internal stakeholders;
- Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
