Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing accounts payable and providing general support to the accounting department at Hood Packaging Corp.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process supplier invoices by reviewing invoices, ensuring proper approvals are received, matching to receiving reports, coding to the appropriate account, and inputting into the system for review.
  • Arrange for new suppliers to be set up at the corporate office.
  • Review the unvouchered receipts report for accuracy.
  • Ensure all invoices are processed on time to obtain maximum discounts.
  • Run the "Aging report" weekly and review all unprocessed/outstanding invoices at every month end.
  • Follow up on all supplier inquiries.
  • Maintain AP files.
  • Run the Aged AP report and prepare the month-end journal entry.
  • Confirm interbranch balances.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in accounting or a related field an asset.
