About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Preparation Specialist to join our team at Sunterra Market. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the food preparation process, ensuring the highest quality of products, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Kitchen Team Lead and Market Manager in maintaining kitchen operations and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
  • Prepare kitchen products according to standardized recipes and guidelines.
  • Guide the completion of daily prep lists and job assignments to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including coolers and shelves.
  • Stay up-to-date on product availability, preparation, storage, and nutritional aspects to provide accurate information to customers.
  • Process product from Receiver and document product transfers, waste, and spoilage using appropriate forms.

Requirements:

  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented individual with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to meet the needs of the department.
  • Physical ability to lift or carry items up to 40 pounds.
  • Passion for food and cooking/restaurant experience required.
  • Food Safe Course training and WHMIS Certification are required (Sunterra will provide training).

Working Conditions:

  • Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions.
  • Caution while working around ovens, grills, and other hot surfaces.
  • May walk and work on uneven surfaces.
  • Caution while working with knives. Knife skills required.
  • Requires some reaching above and below shoulder height.
  • Repetitive use of hands with power grasping and fine manipulation.
