Principal Civil/Hydrologic Engineer

DNV is at the forefront of the energy transition, dedicated to addressing the climate crisis. Our Civil Engineering division is expanding, and we are seeking a Principal Civil/Hydrologic Engineer to enhance our capabilities.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee a diverse range of civil engineering initiatives focused on solar, wind, and battery storage energy projects. Your responsibilities will include providing expert consulting services to key stakeholders, ensuring adherence to industry regulations, conducting thorough design evaluations, and supporting the construction phase of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentoring junior engineers and facilitating training for new service offerings
  • Collaborating on Independent Engineering, Owner's Engineering, and M&A services
  • Assisting in the design processes for solar and wind energy projects
  • Reviewing civil engineering design documents and assessments
  • Conducting root cause analyses related to flooding and erosion issues
  • Monitoring and documenting the construction progress of projects
  • Engaging in business development initiatives with significant clients
  • Managing projects of varying scales
  • Prioritizing safety protocols within the engineering team
  • Coordinating with a diverse group of professionals across North America and globally

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or hydrology
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in project design and construction, including at least 5 years in the renewable energy sector
  • Expertise in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and related design software
  • Familiarity with civil hydrology design standards and principles
  • Knowledge of hydraulic engineering software applications
  • Experience with stormwater management regulations
  • Ability to work autonomously and travel as required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with additional infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of GIS, hydraulic modeling, and FEMA guidelines
