Reporting directly to the AVP Fleet Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for the daily engineering and technical operations, ensuring compliance with company policies, governmental regulations, and customer expectations.

- Ensure operational safety, vessel efficiency, and environmental compliance.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections, audits, and visits to verify adherence to relevant standards.
- Coordinate with external regulatory bodies, including Flag, Class, and Port State authorities.
- Monitor the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) to ensure timely execution of maintenance tasks.
- Prepare specifications and assess tenders for vessel services.
- Manage relationships with company vendors and contractors.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to identify crewing and training needs for the vessels.
- Conduct performance evaluations for Chief Engineers.
- Provide regular updates to key internal stakeholders regarding repair progress.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience working on a vessel in an engineering role.
- Experience as a Vessel Manager is preferred.
- Possession of a minimum Transport Canada 4th Class Motor License.
- Demonstrated knowledge of bulk carriers is required.
- Experience with self-unloading systems is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Proficient in English, both verbal and written, with strong software application skills.
- Able to work effectively in teams with a focus on internal customer service.
- Willingness to travel to vessels in the U.S. and Canada, with extensive travel during winter work periods.
- Must be eligible to travel to the U.S. without restrictions.
- Availability for on-call duties during weekends and evenings for emergencies.
