Senior Java Test Automation Engineer

T-Net British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Test Automation Engineer to enhance our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in architecting and developing robust automated testing frameworks and comprehensive test suites across various technologies. This position involves creating, maintaining, and executing automated test cases specifically for APIs and web services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in automation coding, showcasing a solid grasp of object-oriented design principles, data structures, and design patterns. Additionally, mentoring QA team members in automation practices and providing accurate effort estimates and progress updates will be key responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and develop scalable automated testing frameworks and test suites
  • Create, maintain, and execute automated test cases for APIs and web services
  • Write automation code reflecting a strong understanding of object-oriented design
  • Implement automated tests for APIs and web services using Java, Postman, SOAP UI, JMeter, REST Assured, or similar tools
  • Guide and mentor QA team members in automation methodologies
  • Deliver effort estimates and progress reports to the Team Lead

Required Qualifications:

  • At least five years of experience in a Software Development Engineer or Software Development Engineer in Test role
  • Proficiency in backend automation, RESTful APIs, and web services using Java, Postman, SOAP UI, JMeter, REST Assured
  • Strong command of Java, Core Java, scripting languages, API testing, and automated testing for mobile platforms
  • Familiarity with database CRUD operations, Unix commands, and scripting
  • Experience in Quality Assurance, utilizing Git, and enhancing QA best practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of testing and configuring Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience in performance and/or security testing, mobile application testing, and web applications/websites
  • Familiarity with tools such as Appium, Selenium, and XCUI Test
