Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Long Term Care team at Purdy Pavilion - UBC Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work under the direction of occupational therapists and physiotherapists to provide rehabilitative activities and support to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement lower-risk interventions related to occupational therapy and physiotherapy care plans
  • Teach and demonstrate activities to patients
  • Adapt devices to enable patients to maximize their independence
  • Provide functional direction to patients and families
  • Report observations of patient progress and behaviors
  • Organize and maintain equipment and supplies for activities

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical ability to perform duties of the position
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
