The Senior Technical Analyst (STA) in IM/IT Security, reporting to the Manager of IM/IT Security, serves as a senior technical resource, primarily focused on the operational security tools and technologies utilized by Island Health.

The STA is tasked with providing advanced technical expertise and is accountable for the daily oversight, integration, technical execution, and support of Island Health's Security Incident and Event Management solution, Web Security Gateway, Intrusion Prevention, Vulnerability Management, and Forensic investigation tools. This role includes offering guidance and direction to the security operations team, representing security operations in various initiatives and projects within Island Health and IM/IT, and acting as the senior resource responsible for the analysis, development, implementation, and maintenance of security operations systems and associated layered products, utilities, and hardware.

This position involves ongoing responses to Service Desk incidents and challenges, adhering strictly to Island Health's ITIL-based Change Management policies and processes. The STA is expected to possess the necessary skills to manage and sustain the operational environment of the security operations infrastructure and will play a pivotal role in new initiatives, including planning and executing upgrades to existing technologies and exploring new projects and technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, and Experience

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from a recognized degree or diploma program in Computer Science, accompanied by five (5) years of recent relevant experience, such as managing security technologies including but not limited to Advanced Malware detection, FirePower IPS, Cisco WSA, Nessus Vulnerability Scanner, Arcsight SIEM, and EnCase.

Skills and Abilities
  • A comprehensive, senior-level technical understanding of information systems, networking, and technical architecture.
  • Active CISSP, SANS GIAC, and/or industry-recognized computer forensics certification is strongly preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Proficiency in programming across various languages.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate relevant equipment.
