ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Senior Youth Program Coordinator is a pivotal front-line role dedicated to orchestrating and facilitating engaging activities and initiatives for young individuals aged 6-18 years. Responsibilities include preparing and tidying up program spaces, sourcing necessary supplies, organizing meal provisions, mentoring fellow Activity Workers and volunteers, ensuring safety protocols are upheld, and addressing incidents or sensitive matters effectively.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about working with youth. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments, actively participates in activities, fosters healthy relationships with young people, and enhances their skills and interests. They possess substantial experience in designing and executing captivating programs across diverse domains such as arts and culture, sports and recreation, leadership development, community service, health and life skills, as well as educational and career exploration. They are adept at leading both small and large groups, demonstrating excellent group management and behavioral skills. A natural leader, they remain composed under pressure and enjoy guiding others.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in planning and facilitating activities for youth.
  • Strong skills in group management.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Familiarity with cross-cultural environments.
  • Understanding of youth development, related issues, and community resources.
  • A solid commitment to social justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and truth and reconciliation.
  • Must possess and maintain a Class 5F Manitoba Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to provide clear criminal record and child abuse registry checks obtained within the last 6 months.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrollment or completion of post-secondary education in Education, Child and Youth Care, or a related social sciences field.
  • Experience managing a program budget or petty cash.
  • Background in leading or mentoring staff or volunteers.
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
