Job Summary

The Program Coordinator is a key member of the Voices Manitoba Youth in Care Network team, responsible for planning and facilitating programs, events, and retreats for youth and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and facilitate workshops for the public and service providers to raise awareness of the challenges youth-in-care face and promote collaboration to create a better system of care in Manitoba.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the Youth Leadership program, providing support and guidance to youth participants.
  • Take the lead in planning and coordinating youth and community engagement events and retreats, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Document, evaluate, and report on programs and events, providing valuable insights for future improvements.
  • Manage program and event budgets, purchasing, and financial records, ensuring accurate and transparent financial management.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, schools, caregivers, and service providers to advocate for and develop resources and supports for young people.
  • Network and promote Voices Manitoba Youth in Care Network programs and events, building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Supervise and lead summer staff, adult and youth volunteers, and students, providing guidance and support to ensure successful program delivery.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and as a cohesive member of a diverse team, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
  • Provide support and guidance to youth participants, addressing their needs and concerns, and promoting positive relationships.
  • Stay informed about current trends and issues related to youth-in/from care, resources, services, and opportunities, ensuring the program remains relevant and effective.
  • Actively participate in all Voices Manitoba Youth in Care Network activities, programs, and events, demonstrating a commitment to the organization's mission.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Post-secondary education in Recreation Management, Project Management, Social Work, Community Development, Child and Youth Care, or other relevant fields.
  • Strong knowledge of Manitoba's Child Welfare System and its challenges.
  • 3+ years of experience planning and delivering youth programming, with a focus on community engagement and collaboration.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of youth development, the impact of trauma, and community resources.
  • Experience delivering workshops and presentations, with a focus on engaging and educating diverse audiences.
  • Experience planning and coordinating large events, with a focus on collaboration and community building.
  • Experience handling program budgets and financial records, with a focus on accuracy and transparency.
  • Experience supervising and leading staff and volunteers, with a focus on guidance and support.
  • Experience building positive relationships with youth and emerging adults from diverse backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, Word, Excel), with a focus on effective communication and collaboration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clarity and concision.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with a focus on building positive relationships and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.
  • Must have and maintain a Class 5F Manitoba Driver's License with a clear Driver's Abstract, access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Provide recent Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (PVSC) and Manitoba Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks prior to start date.
  • Lived experience in Manitoba's child welfare system (group homes, foster homes, kinship care, adoption, independent living programs) is considered an asset.
