ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Senior Youth Program Coordinator is a pivotal front-line role dedicated to orchestrating and facilitating engaging activities and initiatives for young individuals aged 6 to 18 years. Responsibilities include program preparation and cleanup, procurement of necessary supplies, meal and snack preparation, mentoring junior Activity Workers and volunteers, ensuring safety protocols are upheld, and effectively managing incidents and sensitive matters.

This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with youth. The Senior Coordinator thrives in dynamic environments, actively participating in activities, fostering healthy and constructive relationships with participants, and enhancing their skills and interests. They possess a wealth of experience in designing and executing captivating, purposeful programs across diverse domains such as arts and culture, sports and recreation, leadership development, community service, health and life skills, as well as educational and career exploration. They are adept at leading both small and large groups, exhibiting strong group dynamics and behavior management skills. A natural leader, they remain composed under pressure and take pleasure in mentoring others.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in planning and leading youth-focused activities.
  • Exceptional group management capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management proficiencies.
  • Experience in cross-cultural environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of youth development, related issues, and community resources.
  • A solid commitment to social justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and truth and reconciliation.
  • Must possess and maintain a Class 5F Manitoba Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to provide clear criminal record and child abuse registry checks obtained within the last six months.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrollment or completion of post-secondary education in Education, Child and Youth Care, or a related social sciences discipline.
  • Experience managing program budgets or petty cash.
  • Background in leading or mentoring staff or volunteers.
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
