Role Overview
As a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Stamping, you will play a crucial role in implementing projects, achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to ergonomics, quality, and process efficiency, while addressing shop floor challenges through root cause analysis and Toyota Business Practice (TBP) methodologies. Your effective communication skills and collaborative approach will enable you to work seamlessly with TMMC team members in driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will provide technical expertise and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to meet performance objectives in your designated process area.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance KPI performance through data-driven analysis, focusing on safety compliance, quality enhancements, cost reductions, increased throughput, and efficient manufacturing practices.
- Assist in capital investment projects, overseeing all implementation aspects including budgeting, scope development, equipment/process specifications, bid management, procurement, installation, integration, commissioning, and acceptance testing.
- Identify and address bottlenecks in blanking, laser welding, and stamping processes through countermeasures, Kaizen, and Yokoten methodologies.
- Establish necessary conditions for capable processes and equipment.
- Support investigations into quality issues, conducting analyses to prevent recurrence.
- Drive daily cycle time improvements through process enhancements and downtime reduction strategies.
- Maintain competitiveness in daily operational costs through automation, maintenance, and scrap reduction efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement countermeasures for quality and productivity challenges.
- Ensure compliance and standardization by maintaining management systems and ensuring equipment adheres to relevant standards and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent education and experience (Electrical or Controls specialization preferred).
- 1 to 3 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in high-volume manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of the stamping process, including associated equipment and automation.
- Strong project management capabilities with a proven ability to lead initiatives without direct authority.
- Experience in troubleshooting equipment breakdowns and implementing recurrence prevention strategies.
- Familiarity with equipment installation and refurbishment processes, including safety risk assessments and equipment commissioning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to accommodate daily and weekend overtime as required.
- Potential for travel to the USA and Japan (1-2 times per year).
- Flexibility to work in various locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of PLC/HMI programming (ControlLogix, Mitsubishi, Toyopuc, Pro-face preferred).
- Experience with Motor Drive/VFD programming (Mitsubishi, Yaskawa preferred).
- Familiarity with Safety PLC programming and safety circuit design (Siemens, AB GuardLogix preferred).
- Understanding of SCADA systems (AVEVA/Indusoft preferred).
- Proficiency in Power BI for data visualization.
