Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Gastroenterologist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Consultant Gastroenterologist, you will provide full scope of practice, participate in call rotation, and support your own site and others in the Western Zone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full scope of practice, including endoscopy and other gastroenterology procedures
  • Participate in call rotation, covering day-time and occasional overnight/weekend shifts
  • Support your own site and others in the Western Zone, including day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
  • Be responsible to the Zone Department Head for Internal Medicine for professional responsibilities and quality of practice
  • Operate with the Medical Staff Bylaws of Nova Scotia Health
  • Participate in teaching medical students and internal medicine residents and fellows

Expected Hours and Compensation

  • Full-time position, with flexible vacation time and fee-for-service compensation
  • Endoscopy time is reasonable, with usually 1 day per week
  • On-call requirement (1:7 at full complement)
  • Flexible vacation; health and dental benefits (Doctors Nova Scotia)
  • Compensation is fee for service - annual income will depend solely on your own clinical output
  • Specialists receive call stipends and other incentives as available through the Master Agreement of Nova Scotia

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or eligible to take the Fellowship Exam in Internal Medicine
