Sedgman Pty Limited is seeking a talented and experienced Structural Designer to contribute to our dynamic team in Vancouver.

In this role, you will play a vital part in the design and development of structural elements for various projects within the Canadian mining industry. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and longevity of our clients' operations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed 3D models and drawings of steel and concrete structures, collaborating with engineers and design drafters throughout the entire design process, from conceptual sketches to final construction documents.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of designs to guarantee accuracy, adherence to industry standards (CSA/International and Sedgman code), and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our design systems by researching and recommending innovative drafting techniques, software, and equipment.
  • Participate in design reviews, offering technical expertise and guidance on drafting challenges or government compliance requirements.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure efficient execution and meet client expectations.

What We Seek:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Technical Design or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in design, consultancy, or operational environments within the engineering sector.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, Advanced Steel/Prosteel, or similar platforms.
  • Experience in the metals and heavy industry is highly advantageous.
  • Shop detailing experience would be a significant asset.
