Unit Overview

The Regional Rehabilitation Centre offers a specialized outpatient rehabilitation program focused on assessing and treating individuals involved in workplace injuries through the WSIB (Workplace Safety Insurance Board) initiative. This program is dedicated to evaluating and addressing the functional limitations and impairments of workers affected by their job-related injuries. The Physiotherapist will collaborate within a diverse team that includes professionals from Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Kinesiology.

Position Overview

As an integral member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Physiotherapist is responsible for coordinating, assessing, and delivering care to patients with various outpatient needs related to WSIB, including neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Effective communication and collaboration with team members and community organizations are essential for providing optimal care while adhering to WSIB reporting requirements.

Work Schedule

Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, including both daytime and evening shifts.

Qualifications

  1. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario is mandatory.
  2. Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy or Physiotherapy program is required.
  3. Proven experience within the last five years in managing patients with musculoskeletal or acquired brain injuries, particularly those related to workplace incidents.
  4. Ability to work independently as a self-directed practitioner while also collaborating effectively within a healthcare team.
  5. Experience and knowledge in WSIB Occupational Health Assessment Programs and Specialty Treatment Programs within the last five years are essential.
  6. Strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and well-developed critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills are required, alongside a patient-centered approach to care.
  7. Experience in working collaboratively with and supervising a Physiotherapy Assistant or other support staff within the last three years is necessary.
  8. Knowledge and experience in delivering evidence-based Physiotherapy services are crucial.
  9. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including clients, families, support staff, and management teams.
  10. Familiarity with patient safety protocols and procedures is essential.
  11. Capability to perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, pushing, lifting, and transferring using appropriate body mechanics.
  12. Commitment to supporting educational opportunities for students and participating in professional development initiatives that enhance patient care and clinical practice.

As a condition of employment, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required.
