Unit Overview

The Regional Rehabilitation Centre provides a specialized outpatient rehabilitation program dedicated to assessing and treating individuals involved in workplace injuries under the WSIB (Workplace Safety Insurance Board) framework. This program focuses on addressing the functional limitations and impairments of workers affected by occupational injuries. The Physiotherapist will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team that includes professionals from Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Kinesiology.

Position Overview

As a vital member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Physiotherapist is responsible for coordinating, assessing, and delivering care to patients with diverse outpatient neurological and musculoskeletal conditions related to workplace injuries. The role requires effective communication and collaboration with team members and community organizations, ensuring adherence to WSIB reporting requirements. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, planning and implementing treatment interventions, managing discharge processes, and facilitating communication for Occupational Health Assessment Programs and Specialty Treatment initiatives.

Work Schedule

Standard work hours are Monday to Friday, including both daytime and evening shifts.

Qualifications

1. Mandatory: Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
2. Mandatory: Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy or Physiotherapy program.
3. Required: Demonstrated experience within the last five years in managing patients with musculoskeletal or acquired brain injuries, particularly those related to workplace incidents.
4. Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently while also being an effective collaborator within a healthcare team.
5. Proven knowledge and experience in WSIB Occupational Health Assessment Programs and Specialty Treatment protocols within the last five years.
6. Strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and well-developed critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills, with a focus on patient- and family-centered care.
7. Experience in working collaboratively with and delegating tasks to a Physiotherapy Assistant or other support staff within the last three years.
8. Proven ability to deliver evidence-based Physiotherapy care.
9. Capacity to communicate and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, families, support personnel, management teams, and other members of the care team.
10. Knowledge of patient safety protocols and procedures.
11. Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, pushing, lifting, and transferring while utilizing appropriate body mechanics.
12. Commitment to supporting educational opportunities for students and engaging in professional development activities that enhance patient care, clinical practice, education, and research.

As a condition of employment, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required.
