POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Vancouver Aquarium is seeking a dedicated Accounts Receivable Specialist with a focus on inventory accounting to become an integral part of our Finance Team. This role is essential for managing daily accounts receivable operations, ensuring precise and prompt transaction processing, revenue recording, and customer invoicing. The specialist will be the primary contact for customers, showcasing outstanding communication abilities and providing courteous and responsive support.

Beyond accounts receivable duties, this position also involves overseeing inventory accounting tasks. The specialist will collaborate with various departments to facilitate effective inventory management, uphold the accuracy and integrity of inventory records, and enhance overall financial reporting efficiency. Proficiency in relevant software applications for finance and inventory management is crucial, as the specialist will actively handle data requests and reporting within the Accounts Receivable sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee daily accounts receivable activities, ensuring the accurate recording of revenue. Generate and dispatch invoices to customers with precision and timeliness. Act as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, delivering responsive and courteous assistance. Track and follow up on overdue accounts, employing suitable collection strategies. Reconcile customer accounts and the accounts receivable sub-ledger with the general ledger to ensure accuracy after each reporting cycle. Execute inventory accounting tasks, including the generation of inventory reports and reconciliation of inventory records. Monitor inventory shrinkage and fluctuations, providing recommendations to enhance inventory controls and maintain accurate records. Collaborate with the finance team to refine and optimize accounts receivable processes. Engage in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to accounts receivable. Analyze and report on trends in accounts receivable, identifying opportunities for improvement. Maintain comprehensive accounts receivable records and analytics, ensuring documentation is accurate and current.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in accounts receivable and inventory accounting. Strong grasp of accounting principles, financial reporting, and inventory management. Proficient in financial software and highly skilled in MS Excel. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial data. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a knack for identifying and resolving discrepancies. Effective written and verbal communication skills for customer interactions and team collaboration. Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, and discretion. Demonstrated capacity to adapt to and learn various software applications. Proven ability to meet deadlines and operate efficiently in a dynamic environment. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Customer-focused approach with a commitment to providing responsive and courteous assistance. Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, capable of working cross-functionally.

COMPENSATION: $22 - $32 PER HOUR
