OVERVIEW:

The Vancouver Aquarium is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Receivables Management Specialist to join our Finance Team. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes, particularly in managing accounts receivable with a focus on inventory accounting. The specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, invoicing clients, and maintaining strong customer relationships through effective communication.

In addition to accounts receivable responsibilities, the position includes oversight of inventory accounting practices. This entails collaboration with various departments to enhance inventory management, ensuring the accuracy of inventory records, and contributing to the overall efficiency of financial reporting. The Receivables Management Specialist will utilize various financial software applications to manage data requests and reporting needs within the accounts receivable framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee daily accounts receivable operations, ensuring precise revenue recording. Generate and dispatch invoices to clients promptly and accurately. Act as the primary contact for clients, delivering responsive and professional support in addressing inquiries and resolving concerns. Track and follow up on overdue accounts, applying suitable collection strategies. Reconcile customer accounts and the accounts receivable sub-ledger with the general ledger to ensure accuracy at the end of each reporting cycle. Execute inventory accounting tasks, including producing inventory reports and reconciling inventory records. Monitor inventory discrepancies and propose enhancements to inventory controls to maintain precise records. Collaborate with the finance team to refine and enhance accounts receivable workflows. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to accounts receivable. Analyze and report on trends within accounts receivable, identifying opportunities for improvement. Maintain comprehensive accounts receivable documentation and analytics, ensuring records are accurate and current.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts receivable and inventory accounting roles. Strong grasp of accounting principles, financial reporting, and inventory management. Proficient in financial software and advanced skills in MS Excel. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial data. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for identifying and resolving discrepancies. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective client interactions and team collaboration. Ability to exercise sound judgment, initiative, and discretion. Proven adaptability to learn and navigate multiple software applications. Demonstrated capability to meet deadlines and work efficiently in a dynamic environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Customer-centric approach with a commitment to providing courteous and responsive service. Team-oriented mindset, capable of working collaboratively across functions.

COMPENSATION: $22 - $32 PER HOUR
