Underground Drilling Equipment Product Expert

Reporting to the Senior Product Manager for Underground Drills, the Underground Drilling Equipment Product Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the technical and commercial strategic initiatives for the underground drilling and bolting product categories. This role is integral in formulating a long-term strategy for drilling products and defining the functional specifications of relevant products. Collaboration with product design engineering teams is essential to ensure that products meet functional specifications, followed by partnering with global commercial, aftermarket, and marketing teams to facilitate the successful commercialization of these products. Additionally, this position will assist in fulfilling commercial product information needs for the Komatsu distribution network's sales and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the formulation of product line strategies and the implementation of both existing and new products through the global distribution network. Conduct market analysis and competitive intelligence to ensure that product direction is aligned with market demands. Collaborate closely with design engineering to ensure that functional specifications are met through the technical design of products. Build and maintain relationships with both new and existing customers (end users and Komatsu distributor sales and service teams) to promote and educate on product lines and services. Coordinate with technical product support, engineering teams, and sales personnel. Provide insights to engineering, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing departments regarding technical challenges, potential solutions, or product enhancements to safeguard and enhance overall business performance. Collect and maintain competitive pricing models and market data for underground drilling products. Support commercial and aftermarket teams for drill rigs (including jumbos and shaft equipment) through planning, training, and program development as necessary. Collaborate with Marketing and Drills Product Management on product launches, programs, and solutions. Prepare necessary documentation including: Announcements, Photos, Videos, Artwork, Internal/External Campaigns, and communications on platforms like Chatter/Komatsu Connect/Yammer.Qualifications/Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a Mechanical trade is required. A minimum of 2 years of experience with drilling technologies and a strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems is required. Direct experience in mining or equipment applications with similar machinery is essential. Familiarity with the drilling market within mining operations is preferred. Exceptional communication and public speaking skills are necessary, with the ability to convey product information confidently to diverse audiences with varying levels of product knowledge. A commercial mindset and experience in market analysis, sales upselling, and sales forecasting are advantageous. Proficient computer skills with the ability to create data metrics, sales presentations, and training materials are required. Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously are essential. A valid passport and driver's license with the ability to travel globally to customer sites and Komatsu Mining sales offices is necessary. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required.-
