Underground Mining Equipment Support Specialist

Do you have a passion for global travel to assist customers and distributors with the commissioning of underground hard rock products? If so, this position is tailored for you. Reporting to the Global Product Support & Reliability Manager, Komatsu is seeking a Factory Technical Support Specialist to deliver expert technical service in the installation and training of Underground Hard Rock Mining equipment to distribution service teams and clients worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide second-tier technical support to customers when field assistance is unavailable or unable to resolve technical inquiries.
- Supply customers with necessary technical data to aid in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of both new and refurbished equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and product management teams to develop customer specifications for machine proposals.
- Assist in creating priority parts listings for capital equipment products.
- Report any Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) concerns related to products.
- Conduct technical training for customers and service regions on proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Offer technical support to end users, operators, and regional/dealer service personnel for complex technical issues.
- Provide constructive feedback to the factory to facilitate equipment or operational improvements.
- Aid in compiling accurate data for warranty claims and engineering enhancements.
- Review spare parts recommendations and enhance the accuracy of Machine Life Operating Costs (MLOC).
- Investigate warranty claims proactively and reactively to boost customer satisfaction and relay feedback to factories.
- Support operations with field-testing and trials of new products and updated components to ensure safe and effective operation.
- Perform equipment demonstrations safely.
- Assist in training distributors/dealers as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of time, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists as applicable.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Technical certification or diploma in heavy equipment mechanics or a related field.
- Certification in electrical technology with the ability to work on high voltage systems.
- Dual Trade certificate and experience with Battery Electric Vehicles is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 7 years of extensive experience with underground mining equipment, particularly underground drills and/or bolters.
- Proven ability in key aspects of technical troubleshooting and lifecycle management reporting.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting equipment schematics.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to conduct technical training and convey detailed information effectively.
- Team-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and flexible, with a commitment to achieving customer satisfaction goals.
- Good computer skills.
- Willingness to work varied shifts in an underground environment as required.
- Ability to travel as necessary with a valid passport and driver's license.
- Proficiency in English is required.
