Inventory Control Coordinator Job Description

At Metro Supply Chain, we are seeking a highly skilled Inventory Control Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining a high level of inventory accuracy through a robust cycle count process, continuous training of users, and transaction audits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by monitoring, validating, and tracking inventory moves associated with all processes.
  • Investigate and escalate inventory discrepancies, and continuously refine procedures and processes to improve quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure accurate set-up, maintenance, and adherence of Warehouse Management System (WMS), including item master, part footprints, location maintenance, replenishment, and cycle counts.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and perform planned cycle counts, count-nearzero, and physical counts in accordance with internal policies and customer requirements.
  • Investigate inventory variances, adjust inventory records if necessary, determine root cause, and recommend corrective action.
  • Coordinate control of damaged and defective product and customer claims, ensuring any inventory changes are accounted for and properly processed to the expectations of the customer.
  • Provide feedback and reports to management regarding operational accuracy from the results of inbound and outbound audits, inventory counts, and system-related user errors.
  • Communicate with management and customers regarding inventory issues, including the existence, cause, and resolution of inventory variances.
  • Provide communication and suggest inventory and process-related improvements.
  • Work closely with operations team to control inventory flow and placement to maximize efficiency.
  • Report inventory control activity and performance results as further defined by management and customer service level agreements.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date inventory control procedures.
  • Assist in training team members on operations SOPs.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in Inventory Control using a Warehouse Management System, preferably Red Prairie (RP).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good computer skills (MS Office).
  • Service-oriented with strong customer service skills and commitment to quality of work.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Organized and shows strong attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to seek alternative solutions.
  • Ability to adapt to changes quickly and work under time pressures.
  • Ability to lift 30lbs – 50lbs.
  • Able to stand throughout the day.
  • Ability to be flexible in daily work assignments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with team members.
  • Thorough knowledge and adherence to company policies and procedures.
