Research Associate in Cellular Physiology

The Dong laboratory is focused on the exploration of lysosomal ion channels and transporters, along with their physiological and pathological roles. This research aims to enhance our understanding of endolysosomal function, calcium signaling, autophagy, and various human diseases, including lysosomal storage disorders, neurodegenerative conditions, myopathies, bacterial infections, and cancers.
Key ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of Dr. Xianping Dong, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Develop a distinct research focus that aligns with ongoing lab grant initiatives.
- Independently design, execute, and evaluate experiments to advance research objectives.
- Publish findings in reputable journals, present at conferences, and contribute to book chapters.
- Mentor graduate students by providing scientific and technical guidance.
- Participate in approved scientific conferences to share knowledge and network.
- Handle administrative tasks such as managing lab supplies and organizing meetings.
- PhD in a relevant field, preferably in molecular biology, cellular biology, biophysics, or neurobiology.
- Proven expertise in molecular and cellular research techniques, including cloning, western blotting, northern blotting, and RT-PCR.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and effective interpersonal skills.
- Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with techniques such as patch-clamp electrophysiology, calcium imaging, confocal microscopy, and mouse genetics is advantageous.
The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000.
