Facility Operations Specialist

The City of Mississauga is seeking a skilled Facility Operator II to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while performing facility cleaning, general maintenance, and repair services.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with minor maintenance repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
- Attend to pool filtration systems, perform water chemistry tests, and add chemicals as needed.
- Collaborate with a team of facility operators to perform facility maintenance duties, including general cleaning, refinishing floors, and waste collection.
- Effectively set up and tear down rooms for various multi-purpose functions, including chairs, tables, and equipment.
- Maintain the ice surface, perform plant readings, and operate and maintain the ice resurfacer machine.
- Monitor various mechanical systems, including HVAC, boilers, pool filtration, and arena refrigeration equipment.
- Ensure safety standards, due diligence, and cash handling policies and procedures are maintained.
- Secondary School diploma, with experience in trades, facility operations, general maintenance, or custodial lines of work.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to speak effectively to the public and read business correspondence.
- Work-related experience in custodial and facility maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, and floor care.
- Knowledgeable working with computers and technology.
- Must be physically capable of carrying out the essential duties of the job.
- Must hold and provide a copy of a valid Ontario Driver's License Class G.
- Valid CPR, First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
Weekend, evening rotating shift work is required. Successful candidates will need to be prepared for increased mobility, with appropriate notice, to fill vacancies, provide developmental opportunities for staff, and be responsive to future operational needs or to support the operational structure and its requirements. Travel between facilities will be required.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $58, $78,592.00
