About Our Opportunity

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a skilled and compassionate Victim Services Navigator to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in delivering the Provincial Victim Services Program, ensuring that victims of crime receive the support and services they need.

In this role, you will provide information and support services directly to victims of crime, acting as a liaison between the victim and justice personnel. You will also identify and analyze trends and common concerns of victims, employing a variety of strategies to meet their needs.

Key responsibilities include maintaining a caseload of highly sensitive files, providing support to help meet clients' needs, and ensuring the confidentiality of client information is maintained. You will also liaise with Crown, Police, Correctional Services, and community organizations to develop, deliver, and enhance services.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Maintain a caseload of highly sensitive files and provide support to help meet clients' needs.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of client information is maintained and accurately entered into the Victim Services case management system.
  • Liaise with Crown, Police, Correctional Services, and community organizations to develop, deliver, and enhance services.
Qualifications and Experience

You possess a Bachelor's degree (typically in the Social Sciences) and three years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Related experience includes (but is not limited to) providing client services in the community.

In this role, you are required to have experience in client assessment and interviewing techniques, as well as case management and computer skills. Your knowledge of the criminal justice system and community resources, the Victims' Rights and Services Act, the Criminal Code of Canada, and the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights is essential.

Pay Grade: PR 12 Hourly

Salary Range: $29.82 - $49.82 Hourly
