Islamic Relief is a faith-driven humanitarian organization dedicated to saving and transforming the lives of some of the world's most vulnerable populations. Established in 1984, we operate in over 45 countries, assisting individuals, families, and communities through emergency response and development initiatives that typically benefit over 10 million people annually. Islamic Relief is a proud member of the Humanitarian Coalition.

DEPARTMENT:

The Fund Development department is focused on creating and implementing strategies to enhance the funding income of Islamic Relief through various fundraising initiatives, as well as the acquisition and retention of donors, volunteers, and community supporters.

JOB PURPOSE:

  • This role will report directly to the Regional Fund Development Manager and will be instrumental in supporting the achievement of organizational objectives related to community fundraising and volunteer initiatives.
  • The individual in this position will serve as the primary contact and representative of Islamic Relief with regional volunteer teams.

SCOPE OF WORK:

  • Recruit, coordinate, and supervise volunteers and volunteer groups within the designated region.
  • Adopt a volunteer-led approach to ensure the effective execution of local fundraising activities and events.
  • Represent the organization at various fundraising and community events.
  • Address logistical challenges and ensure the availability of necessary materials and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Relations:

  • Maintain existing donor relationships and partnerships, focusing on a designated area within the region.
  • Identify and cultivate new relationships and partnerships to broaden community outreach and increase the number of new donors.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships through regular meetings, providing feedback on donations, and exploring potential offerings from Islamic Relief.
  • Oversee mosque and community relations, including organizing collections for campaigns and distributing materials for specific initiatives.
  • Achieve fundraising targets and ensure a satisfactory return on investment with partnered individuals and networks.
  • Formalize partnerships through necessary protocols, such as establishing Memorandums of Understanding or contracts.
  • Provide fundraising support to stakeholders collaborating with Islamic Relief.
  • Respond to inquiries related to regional fundraising activities.
  • Communicate performance metrics and provide regular updates to the Line Manager.
  • Utilize regional and personal social media platforms to promote Islamic Relief's messaging, campaigns, activities, and appeals.

Volunteers and Networking:

  • Build a regional volunteer team by recruiting, training, and managing members.
  • Lead the regional volunteer team in planning and executing grassroots community events.
  • Guide the volunteer team in executing larger events, challenges, and tours.
  • Assist with fundraising activities occurring in the region.
  • Encourage volunteer participation in all fundraising events and initiatives.
  • Network at local and organizational events to foster relationships and recruit new volunteers.

Event Planning and Execution:

  • Lead regional volunteer teams in managing local events or participating in events in consultation with the line manager.
  • Represent the organization at both Islamic Relief and non-Islamic Relief events.
  • Ensure the availability of appropriate materials and equipment for events.
  • Oversee the logistics of loading, delivering, and returning materials and equipment for functions.
  • Maintain a consistent supply of fundraising and promotional materials.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:

Experience:

  • Proven experience in establishing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination, including events and campaigns.
  • Experience in organizing and supervising events.
  • Experience in recruiting, managing, and developing volunteers.
  • Possession of a full Canadian driving license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the local region and community.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage volunteers.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong motivation and empathy towards the organization's aims and objectives.
  • Numerical proficiency and the ability to work accurately under pressure while paying attention to detail.
  • Ability to represent Islamic Relief in diverse situations.
  • Proficient in IT, including Google Suite, databases, and project management tools to meet KPIs.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, plan work, set and achieve deadlines, and maintain monitoring systems.

  • Current local driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Flexible approach to work to accommodate events and functions.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally at short notice.
