Position Overview

JPS Trucking Ltd is seeking a dedicated and skilled Long Distance Freight Driver to join our team. This role involves transporting goods across various regions while ensuring the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coaching: Mentor fellow drivers on innovative techniques and methods.
  • Customer Service: Maintain professionalism in all interactions with clients.
  • Travel Arrangements: Organize travel itineraries and make necessary reservations.
  • Team Driving: Collaborate as part of a two-person team or in convoy.
  • Loading and Unloading: Efficiently manage the loading and unloading of cargo.
  • Vehicle Operation: Operate straight or articulated trucks to transport materials.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Inspect and oversee the condition of the vehicle, including tires, lights, and brakes.
  • Financial Transactions: Handle payments for goods transported.
  • Emergency Repairs: Conduct roadside repairs as necessary.
  • Inspections: Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance to ensure vehicle reliability.
  • Communication: Relay information to central dispatch effectively.
  • Record Keeping: Document cargo details, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
  • Safety Measures: Ensure the safety and security of cargo through proper tarping.
  • Handling Hazardous Materials: Transport and manage dangerous goods in compliance with regulations.
Qualifications
  • Licenses: AZ class license, Air Brakes Endorsement, Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi-trailer trucks), and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
