Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Emergency Department

We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the Emergency Department at Fort St. John Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide compassionate patient care and work closely with the care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions for patients in the Emergency Department.

Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing care to patients across the lifespan. You will have the chance to develop your skills and knowledge in emergency nursing, working with a team of experienced healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care to patients in the Emergency Department, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions.
  • Work closely with the care team to coordinate health services and provide patient-centered care.
  • Participate in discharge and care planning, and function as a patient advocate.
  • Teach patients and their families about illness, injury, and overall health promotion and wellness.
  • Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the patient/family.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance therapeutic relationships based on respect.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and one year of recent experience working in a related area of care.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to caring for patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pathophysiology related to common diagnoses.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform nursing assessments and interventions related to common diagnoses.
