Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Fort St. John Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary clinical framework, you will work closely with the care team to provide compassionate patient care in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions for patients in the Emergency Department
- Coordinate health services and participate in discharge and/or care planning
- Function as a patient advocate and teach patients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness
- Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the patient/family
- Establish, maintain, and enhance therapeutic relationships based on respect
- Provide care to patients across the lifespan and their families, based on stable and/or predictable states of health
- Recognize and respond to unexpected patient outcomes by communicating and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team
- Document care provided and response to incidents in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Emergency Department expectations
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and one (1) year recent experience working in a related area of care
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to caring for patients in the Emergency Department
- Demonstrated knowledge of pathophysiology related to common diagnoses
- Demonstrated ability to perform nursing assessments and interventions related to common diagnoses and specific clinical situations
- Demonstrated ability to make sound clinical judgments to provide safe and ethical patient care
- Demonstrated ability to recognize potential complications and care issues
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict situations and aggressive behavior
- Demonstrated ability to document patient care on appropriate systems/forms in a timely and accurate manner
