About the RoleThe Government of Nova Scotia is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing our provincial infrastructure. We are seeking a qualified individual to contribute to our mission by focusing on health, safety, and environmental matters within the construction domain.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Area Inspector specializing in Safety, your role will involve:
- Supporting management and staff in health, safety, and environmental initiatives.
- Participating in JOHSE meetings and leading toolbox discussions.
- Coordinating and delivering health and safety training sessions.
- Managing safety documentation and maintaining training records.
- Conducting investigations into incidents and proposing corrective actions.
- Promoting the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) within workplace practices.
- Assisting in inspections and hazard assessments to ensure compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A high school diploma along with five years of relevant experience in construction or related fields.
- Proven knowledge of safety regulations and practices, particularly in OHS and environmental management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data management systems.
- Certification in Temporary Workplace Signing, First Aid, and WHMIS.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
This position requires a blend of office and fieldwork, exposing you to various environmental conditions. Candidates must be prepared to navigate challenging terrains and work in potentially hazardous environments while adhering to safety protocols.
