Position Overview:

Guidepoint is in search of a seasoned Director of Product Operations to play a pivotal role within our Toronto Technology Hub. This Hub is the foundation for our new Data/AI team, which is committed to establishing a modern data framework for advanced analytics and the ethical development of AI technologies. This strategic initiative is essential to Guidepoint's forward-looking vision, focusing on the creation of innovative Generative AI and analytical tools that will support our Next-Gen research enablement platform and data offerings.

In the capacity of Director of Product Operations, your key responsibility will be to ensure the effective strategic planning and agile execution of product and engineering projects from conception to deployment, collaborating closely with global cross-functional teams. Leading a dedicated team, you will enhance operational efficiency and agile delivery, enabling Product, UX, and Engineering teams to concentrate on addressing customer challenges in alignment with our overarching product strategy. You will serve as a strategic leader within our broader Product, Engineering, and IT organization, influencing collaborative efforts across various functions and with partner divisions such as Client Services, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Sales. Your approach to Operations will prioritize seamless integration and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Establish a robust foundation of collaboration and partnership with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders.
  2. Enhance, standardize, and coordinate our product release and agile delivery processes in conjunction with Product and Engineering teams.
  3. Collaborate with Product, UX, and Engineering leaders to oversee and continually refine our business rhythms, including weekly and quarterly reviews, planning sessions, and metrics evaluations.
  4. Act as the Project Management Office (PMO) for significant cross-team strategic initiatives, optimizing interdependencies, removing obstacles, and managing stakeholder expectations.
  5. Improve communication methods across product, engineering, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity of roles and responsibilities through the OKR framework.
  6. Manage and develop tools and best practices that facilitate product design and development activities, such as agile metrics, release tracking, and product roadmaps.
  7. Coordinate with Finance on budget oversight, vendor invoicing, and contractor management.
  8. Work with HR to set goals that help teams define and achieve ambitious objectives, tracking outcomes with measurable results.
  9. Recommend and develop training programs and materials to onboard new technology team members, communicate best practices, and drive process enhancements.
  10. Serve as a trusted advisor to the CTO and a thought partner to leadership across the Product, UX, and Engineering organization, supporting informed decision-making and aligned direction.
Qualifications:
  1. 8+ years of experience in Product and/or Engineering Operations, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  2. Bachelor's degree.
  3. Proven experience as the primary owner and driver of product planning, tracking, and agile delivery processes.
  4. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  5. Strong leadership and persuasion abilities, with a capacity to lead without direct authority.
  6. In-depth understanding of the diverse needs of stakeholders within a Product/Engineering/IT organization, from executive leadership to individual contributors.
  7. Demonstrated success in achieving measurable process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  8. Proven ability to identify and mitigate operational risks that could affect product delivery timelines and quality.
  9. Proactive in addressing issues and bottlenecks.
  10. A mindset focused on radical simplification and initiative.
  11. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data and insights to inform strategies.
  12. Proven capability to facilitate strategic prioritization and bridge the gap between strategy and execution, ensuring plans translate into effective actions.
  13. A customer-centric approach, emphasizing the delivery of exceptional value and experience through product offerings.
  14. History of making difficult decisions and trade-offs in situations of ambiguity and incomplete information.
