Overview:

Guidepoint is in search of a seasoned Director of Product Operations to play a pivotal role within our Toronto Technology Hub. This hub will act as the foundation for our newly established Data/AI team, which is committed to creating a state-of-the-art data infrastructure for advanced analytics and the ethical development of AI technologies. This strategic initiative is crucial to Guidepoint's vision for the future, focusing on the advancement of innovative Generative AI and analytical capabilities that will support Guidepoint's Next-Gen research enablement platform and data products.

In your capacity as the Director of Product Operations, your main duty will be to ensure the effective strategic planning and agile execution of product and engineering projects from conception to launch, collaborating closely with diverse global teams. Leading a dedicated team, you will spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and agile delivery, enabling Product, UX, and Engineering teams to concentrate on addressing customer challenges in alignment with our overarching product strategy. You will serve as a strategic leader within our extended Product, Engineering, and IT organization, influencing how we collaborate across functions and with partner divisions such as Client Services, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Sales. Your understanding of seamless operations will be key to our success.

You will report directly to our Chief Technology and AI Officer.

Your Responsibilities:
  1. Establish a robust foundation of collaboration and partnership with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders.
  2. Enhance, standardize, and coordinate our product release and agile delivery processes in collaboration with Product and Engineering teams.
  3. Work alongside Product, UX, and Engineering leaders to oversee and continually refine our business rhythms, including weekly and quarterly reviews and planning sessions.
  4. Act as the Project Management Office (PMO) for significant cross-team strategic initiatives, optimizing dependencies, removing obstacles, and managing stakeholder expectations.
  5. Enhance communication across product, engineering, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity of roles, utilizing the OKR framework.
  6. Develop and manage tools and best practices that support product design and development activities, such as agile metrics, release tracking, and product roadmaps.
  7. Coordinate with Finance on budget oversight, vendor invoicing, and contractor management.
  8. Collaborate with HR for goal-setting to assist teams in defining ambitious objectives and tracking measurable outcomes.
  9. Propose and create training programs and materials to onboard new technology team members, communicate best practices, and drive process enhancements.
  10. Serve as a trusted advisor to the CTO and a thought partner to leadership across the Product, UX, and Engineering organization, facilitating informed decision-making and aligned direction.
Your Qualifications:
  1. 8+ years of experience in Product and/or Engineering Operations, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  2. Bachelor's degree.
  3. Proven experience as the primary owner and driver of product planning, tracking, and agile delivery processes.
  4. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  5. Strong leadership and persuasion abilities, capable of leading without direct authority.
  6. Comprehensive understanding of the needs of various stakeholders within a Product/Engineering/IT organization, from executive leadership to individual contributors.
  7. Demonstrated history of measurable process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  8. Proven ability to identify and mitigate operational risks that could affect product delivery timelines and quality.
  9. Capacity to proactively address issues and bottlenecks.
  10. A mindset focused on radical simplification and proactive problem-solving.
  11. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data and insights to inform strategies.
  12. Demonstrated ability to facilitate strategic prioritization and bridge the gap between strategy and execution, ensuring effective action plans.
  13. A customer-centric approach, emphasizing the delivery of exceptional value and experience through product offerings.
  14. Track record of making difficult decisions and trade-offs amidst ambiguity and incomplete information.
