Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team at J.R. Simplot Company. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for ensuring the best possible position for our company in the acquisition of Seed, Seed Care, Inoculant, and Crop Protection products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Procurement and Logistics
    • Work closely with procurement leads to manage and track distribution warehouse inventories, counts, and logistics of product to retail locations to maximize efficiencies of warehouse capacities and profitability.
    • Monitor aging inventory by location.
    • Enter new products into our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
    • Be a point of contact for suppliers and distributors to collect information.
    • Collect internal forecasts and communicate inventory forecast position reports to wholesale distributors and manufacturers.
    • Work closely within the procurement team in the development of reporting systems to ensure proper tracking of shipments and supply contracts.
    • Responsible for sales data reporting and validations.
    • Ensure current understanding of all products, load, and package sizes appropriate to our markets.
    • Work closely with the market office coordinators, office administrators, and finance and accounting team to ensure successful matching of purchase orders, purchase receipts, and invoicing within our ERP systems.
    • Assist in logistics of custom seed treating – work with sales staff to ensure the most efficient use of custom seed treaters.
  • Industry Liaison
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships and a large industry network as directed by the Crop Protection & Seed Manager.
    • Communicate with designated representatives for manufacturers and distributors.
    • Learn and upgrade knowledge of new products and product updates on Crop Protection and Seed as required.
    • Maintain a strong working knowledge of key industry people and competitors.

    Expectations in Addition to Roles and Responsibilities
    • Retail locations are the primary profit centers for our company. Build trust with locations on what they can expect for product delivery in season and off season and that moving product for the benefit of all customers will lead us towards our ideal culture.
    • Become a procurement contact for distribution and manufacturers to strengthen our partnerships to gain advantage over the competition.
    • Align with the Crop Protection & Seed Manager on evolving new culture.
    • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with market managers, location operations managers, and location operations team members.
