Job Summary

As a Procurement Specialist at J.R. Simplot Company, you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal positioning of our company in the acquisition of Seed, Seed Care, Inoculant, and Crop Protection products. You will work closely with our Procurement Leads to manage and track distribution warehouse inventories, counts, and logistics of product to retail locations, maximizing efficiencies of warehouse capacities and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Procurement Leads to develop and implement effective inventory management strategies, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products to retail locations.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory levels, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions to minimize stockouts and overstocking.
  • Enter new products into our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date product information.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and distributors, collecting and providing critical information to support business decisions.
  • Collect and analyze internal forecasts, communicating inventory forecast position reports to wholesale distributors and manufacturers to ensure alignment and optimal inventory levels.
  • Work closely with the Procurement team to develop and maintain reporting systems, ensuring proper tracking of shipments and supply contracts.
  • Responsible for sales data reporting and validation, ensuring accurate and timely data for business analysis and decision-making.
  • Stay up-to-date on all products, load and package sizes, and market trends, ensuring a deep understanding of our company's markets and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the Market Office Coordinators, Office Administrators, and Finance & Accounting Team to ensure seamless matching of purchase orders, purchase receipts, and invoicing within our ERP systems.
  • Assist in the logistics of custom seed treating, working with sales staff to ensure the most efficient use of custom seed treaters.
Industry Liaison
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, including manufacturers and distributors, as directed by our Crop Protection & Seed Manager.
  • Communicate with designated representatives for manufacturers and distributors, ensuring alignment and optimal business outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date on new products and product updates, ensuring a deep understanding of our company's markets and customer needs.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of key industry people and competitors, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
