The Field Service Technician for Power Systems will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar Power Systems at customer locations, ensuring high-quality service and exceptional customer satisfaction.

** Rotational Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off**

In your daily responsibilities, you will:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines for all operations.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on generators, industrial engines, marine engines, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform hazard assessments and mechanical repairs both in the shop and on-site.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide comprehensive service reports and recommendations.
  • Utilize testing and calibration tools for equipment diagnostics.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Submit timely and accurate service documentation.
  • Operate load banks in testing scenarios.
  • Carry out engine overhauls as needed.
  • Exhibit safe work practices in alignment with company health and safety policies.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Post-secondary education in diesel engines, electro mechanics, marine engine mechanics, industrial mechanics, or a related field.
  • Experience with generators, gensets, diesel engines, marine engines, or similar heavy machinery.
  • MaK training or certification is a strong advantage.
  • Caterpillar 3600 diesel generator certification is highly regarded.
  • Experience with large diesel engines in marine settings is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with diesel generators, switchgear, and transfer switches is an asset.
