The Field Service Technician for Power Systems will be responsible for performing diagnostics and repairs on Caterpillar Power Systems at customer locations, ensuring safety and efficiency while delivering exceptional service.

** Rotational Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off**

In your daily responsibilities, YOU will:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols for all subcontractors
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on generators, industrial engines, marine engines, and auxiliary equipment
  • Perform hazard assessments and mechanical repairs on engines and generators both in the workshop and on-site
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide comprehensive service reports and repair recommendations
  • Utilize electrical and mechanical testing tools to diagnose and service equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Submit accurate service documentation and time records promptly
  • Operate load banks in testing scenarios
  • Carry out engine overhauls as required
  • Exhibit safe work practices in alignment with company health and safety policies

Essential qualifications for this position include:

  • Post-secondary education in diesel mechanics, electro mechanics, marine engine mechanics, industrial mechanics, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with generators, diesel engines, marine engines, or similar heavy machinery
  • MaK training/certification is a strong advantage
  • Caterpillar 3600 diesel generator certification is a significant asset
  • Experience with large diesel engines in marine settings is beneficial
  • Familiarity with diesel generators, switchgear, and transfer switches is an asset
