About the Role

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide employment services to clients recovering from mental illness, assessing and evaluating their vocational rehabilitation needs, and developing plans to support their return to the workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Assessment and Planning: Assess and evaluate client's vocational rehabilitation needs on an ongoing basis, collaborating with the client to determine their interests, skills, and abilities, and facilitating the setting of appropriate vocational rehabilitation plans.
  2. Vocational Rehabilitation Counselling: Provide vocational rehabilitation counselling to clients on an individual basis, facilitating group meetings, and liaising with Case Managers and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
  3. Job Development and Marketing: Conduct job development, direct marketing, and job search activities, developing networks and links with community employers, and negotiating job accommodations and workplace agreements.
  4. Client Support and Progress Monitoring: Provide ongoing support services to clients related to employment, monitoring their progress on a continual basis, and ensuring they are meeting their goals and objectives.
  5. Education and Support: Provide education and support to employers, Case Managers, and other mental health services providers on vocational rehabilitation and the Individual Placement and Support Model.
  6. Team Collaboration and Communication: Participate in case, team, and industry meetings, and in-services, providing input on client cases as required, and contributing to the Centre's initiatives.
  7. Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain a variety of records, including clinical and evaluation records, and prepare reports as required in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program, plus two (2) years' recent related experience providing vocational rehabilitation counselling and job marketing/development to individuals with mental illness.
  • Skills and Abilities: Basic counselling skills in working with clients with mental illness, demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles, and ability to assess, plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and problem-solve.
