Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing employment services to clients recovering from mental illness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate client's vocational rehabilitation needs through collaborative methods, including determining their interests, skills, and abilities.
  • Develop and implement vocational rehabilitation plans that integrate vocational goals into mental health treatment plans.
  • Coordinate client intake into supported employment services, including liaising with referring clinical staff and conducting intake interviews.
  • Conduct job development, direct marketing, and job search activities, including developing networks and links with community employers.
  • Provide ongoing support services to clients, including vocational rehabilitation counselling, job coaching, and education and support to employers and other mental health services providers.
  • Monitor client progress and ensure client goals and objectives are met.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program, plus two years' recent related experience providing vocational rehabilitation counselling and job marketing/development to individuals with mental illness.
  • Eligibility for certification as a rehabilitation professional with a recognized association.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for business use.
Skills and Abilities
  • Basic counselling skills in working with clients with mental illness.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, staff, and community agency personnel.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, including working effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in a complex environment.
