About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at Hazelwood Construction Services Inc. in Vancouver Island. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of vehicles and machines used in heavy civil construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine maintenance and engine overhauls for heavy duty equipment.
  • Perform custom rebuilds and diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment.
  • Inspect and repair hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and other mechanical components.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with the Operations Manager and other team members.
Requirements
  • Journeyperson's certificate or Red Seal certification.
  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.
  • 5-10 years' experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.
What We Offer
  • Competitive hourly rate of $39.58.
  • Vacation pay: 13% of hourly wage.
  • Benefits eligibility: after completing 250 hours.
  • Pension contributions: $4.80 per hour worked.
