About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Water and Wastewater Operations Specialist to join our team at Ombudsman Ontario. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of water and wastewater services to our communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water and wastewater facilities within the Midwest Region.
  • Use your skills to inspect, operate, and monitor the facilities processes and equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, take samples, interpret results, and make process control adjustments to resolve operating issues.
  • Liaise with a variety of people, including coworkers, clients, and suppliers, while keeping accurate logs and writing reports.
  • Work in a team environment and take initiative to resolve issues and improve processes.
Requirements
  • OIT to Class IV certificate or license: Water Treatment, Water Distribution and Supply, Wastewater Treatment/Collection, Limited Surface Water, and Limited Groundwater (as per O. Reg. 129/04).
  • A minimum Operator-in-Training (OIT), as specified in O.Reg. 128/04 of the Safe Drinking Water Act and O.Reg. 129/04 of the Ontario Water Resources Act.
  • Valid class G driver's license.
  • Ability to respond to on-call within a reasonable period of time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes.
  • Working experience/knowledge of the skilled trades for the maintenance and repair of a variety of equipment and structures.
  • Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulatory and legislative acts, codes, policies, guidelines, and procedures related to water and wastewater operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and chemistry to make calculations for chemical and operating processes.
  • Familiarity with computers, including monitoring and operating systems.
