About the Role

The Healthcare Aide (HCA) plays a vital role in providing holistic and quality care to our residents. As an integral member of our team, you will be responsible for performing your duties in accordance with established policies and procedures, while maintaining the rights of residents and ensuring they are treated with respect and dignity.

Responsibilities:
  1. Follow established care plans to ensure the best possible outcomes for our residents.
  2. Provide personal care for our residents, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and assisting with meals, oral hygiene, and other care duties as applicable.
  3. Respond to call bells and alarms in a timely and efficient manner.
  4. Observe and monitor residents' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, and report significant observations to the Director of Care or designate.
  5. Utilize proper safety protocols when operating mechanical aids, such as specialty beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers, to transport residents.
  6. Aid with lifting and/or transferring of residents by following established lifting/safety techniques.
  7. Provide residents with nutritional assistance, including meals, nourishment, and tray service, and assist residents to and from dining areas in accordance with meal service schedules.
  8. Encourage resident participation in food service and clean up.
  9. Perform laundry of residents' personal clothing as required.
  10. Involves the resident in organizing and maintaining their home environment, ensuring it is done according to the residents' wishes and needs.
  11. Attend and participate in community and education programs.
  12. Required to work positively and collaboratively with all team members and supervisors.
  13. Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  1. Graduate from a recognized Care Aide Program.
  2. An active registration with the British Columbia Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
  3. Food Safe Level 1 Certificate an asset.
  4. Medication Administration Certification an asset.
  5. Previous experience in a long-term care facility an asset.
  6. Demonstrates ability to provide compassionate and empathetic care.
  7. Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
  8. All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
  9. Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand, and walk as required to perform the duties of the position.
