About the Role
The Home Support Worker (HSW) is a vital member of our team, reporting to the Assisted Living Clinical Manager. This role involves providing holistic and quality care to our residents, adhering to established policies and procedures while maintaining their rights and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with residents and healthcare professionals.
- Provide personal care services, including medication assistance, bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal support, ensuring residents' comfort and well-being.
- Respond promptly to call bell alarms and address residents' needs in a timely manner.
- Monitor residents' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, reporting significant observations to the clinical team.
- Encourage residents to participate in social, physical, spiritual, and recreational activities, promoting their overall quality of life.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community policies and procedures, including emergency protocols and safe work practices.
- Participate in community and education programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform night shift duties, including housekeeping tasks as per the night routine.
- Assist with other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Graduate from a recognized Care Aide Program.
- Active registration with the British Columbia Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
- Valid First Aid Level 1 certification and current CPR.
- Medication Administration Certification required.
- Previous experience in a care community preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
- Pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
- Good physical health, ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand, and walk as required.
