GIS Analyst

Location: Montreal, QC Key Responsibilities

The GIS Analyst will engage in a variety of tasks related to the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of synthetic environment (SE) content data sets utilized within our training framework. Responsibilities include:

  • Collecting geospatial, imagery, cultural feature, and architectural data to develop synthetic environment content data sets.
  • Proficient understanding of various geographic datasets, such as shapefiles, raster data, and geodatabases, along with the capability to create and modify data within the ArcGIS environment.
  • Experience with GIS software tools (ArcMap and FME) to produce SE content data sets from original data sources.
  • Ensuring SE content data sets adhere to Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC 1.0) standards.
  • Implementing SE content data sets effectively.
  • Overseeing GIS databases and updating GIS metadata as necessary.

In this role, you will collaborate within a cross-functional team alongside the Product Owner, Designers, and Technical Leads to enhance our synthetic environment (SE).


  • Employ Agile engineering methodologies and diverse software and web development technologies to swiftly devise innovative and effective solutions that improve client and employee experiences.
  • Work closely with team members to develop clear user stories, design tests for prototypes and products, and consistently deliver product improvements.
  • Act as a change agent and advocate for an Agile mindset.
  • Foster a collaborative and dynamic work atmosphere.
  • Stay connected to industry trends to propose innovative ideas.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Proficient in analyzing and manipulating GIS data sets using ArcGIS and FME.
  • Experienced in working with satellite imagery, digital elevation models, and vector data to create detailed, high-resolution data sets.
  • Passionate about GIS data manipulation with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Demonstrates an Agile mindset.
  • Capable of making independent decisions and working autonomously.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong time-management abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Adaptable to technological changes and comfortable in an R&D environment.
  • Results-oriented with strong planning and organizational skills.
Qualifications:

  • A degree in IT, GIS, or geomatics, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Feature Manipulation Engine (FME).
  • Solid understanding of GIS principles and data manipulation techniques.
  • Background in coding, cloud computing, and managing on-site servers.
