Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab Technician to support the safe and efficient operations of PTA (Physiotherapist Assistant) and/or OTA (Occupational Therapist Assistant) clinical labs at Seneca College. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Course Instructor to ensure student awareness of course objectives, approach, and evaluation techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with the course instructor and attend all preparatory laboratory meetings to ensure a smooth and effective lab experience.
  • Reinforce, demonstrate, assist, and support pre-learned principles and their application to skills and procedures, providing a learning environment that makes effective use of laboratory equipment.
  • Support and maintain lab safety, cleanliness, and organization, ensuring an equitable and accessible learning community.
  • Provide observation and monitoring of student skills and progress using developed guidelines and criteria, reporting on student progress/achievement to the Course Director.
  • Maintain records of attendance and ensure an accurate and up-to-date record of student progress.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum two (2) year diploma in OTA/PTA.
  • Membership in CAOT, OSOT, and/or OPA.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience as a PTA and/or OTA.
  • Registered PTs and OTs are welcome to apply.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal) to interact with the college's multi-cultural/racial/able staff, students, and the public.
  • Understanding of and commitment to equity in education.
  • Commitment to a team approach for problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent clinical skills in OTA and/or PTA.
