Position Overview:

The Graduate Program Administrator plays a vital role in supporting the Department of Physiology within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. This position is integral to ensuring that students receive comprehensive guidance on academic and financial matters, as well as facilitating a smooth admissions process.

About the Department:

The Department of Physiology is recognized as one of the largest basic science departments in North America, characterized by its interdisciplinary approach and extensive partnerships that enhance research and educational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Graduate Program Administrator, your responsibilities will encompass:

  1. Providing expert advice to students regarding academic and financial inquiries.
  2. Guiding students through the petition and appeal processes, offering alternative solutions when necessary.
  3. Evaluating and recommending allocations for award funding.
  4. Analyzing enrollment data to inform future planning and identify the need for additional course sections.
  5. Creating promotional materials and outreach initiatives to attract prospective students.
  6. Conducting seminars and workshops, and delivering presentations aimed at student recruitment.
Essential Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:
  1. A Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. A minimum of four years of relevant experience in student admissions or recruitment within a large educational institution.
  3. Proven experience in advising prospective students and their families on admission requirements.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of graduate functions, including admissions, enrollment, and funding.
  5. Experience in promoting programs and conducting recruitment activities for diverse audiences.
  6. A strong commitment to equity and inclusion, with experience supporting underrepresented groups.
  7. Proficiency in developing outreach materials and assessing award funding allocations.
  8. Experience in organizing and executing recruitment events, including post-event evaluations.
  9. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to produce statistical reports and utilize data visualization tools.
  10. Advanced skills in MS Office Suite and familiarity with student information systems.
  11. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage a diverse population.
  12. Exceptional public speaking and interpersonal abilities.
  13. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  14. A proactive approach, with attention to detail and resourcefulness.
  15. The ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
  16. Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential matters.
