Position Overview
Optimum Mortgage, the residential lending sector of Canadian Western Bank, is experiencing rapid growth. We seek a detail-oriented and self-motivated individual to enhance our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough reviews of pre-funding conditions and documentation in a digital environment to ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and audit standards.
  • Maintain a strong focus on detail and customer service to optimize broker-originated opportunities.
  • Assess files for various conditions including income verification, down payment validation, title searches, credit reports, and relevant documentation.
  • Ensure effective fraud detection and satisfactory audits.
  • Review and approve solicitor conditions as necessary.
  • Adhere to bank protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards.
  • Manage a fast-paced workload, averaging nine updates daily.
  • Facilitate the application process by following up on approved files and analyzing weekly funding reports.
  • Maintain timely communication with stakeholders, ensuring a 24-hour response time.
  • Propose efficient solutions and alternative documentation options in collaboration with clients and referral sources.
  • Support underwriters and business development managers in finalizing transactions.

Qualifications

  • Business administration diploma or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years of experience in mortgage documentation review, with knowledge of Alt-A lending practices being advantageous.

Essential Skills

  • Understanding of mortgage lending guidelines, compliance, and regulatory requirements, particularly regarding fraud detection.
  • Experience in reviewing mortgage file conditions, including income, down payment, title searches, and other relevant documentation.
  • Knowledge of documentation for conventional, high-ratio, and Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) residential mortgages.
  • Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the capacity to prioritize in a high-pressure, team-oriented environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
